Fellip, born in Nafeera (despite being of Dassi, Camdissian and Nafeeran blood) speaks the Colossian dialect of Nalarian, while Corelle, born to Camdissian parents in the Agonossian city of Nalan'harar, speaks its purer dialect.

N A L A R I A N is a language born in Lynea's Agonoss region, with two distinct forms. The Agonossian country of Narar lies close to the far western island of Nafeera; due to a thriving trade relationship, interbreeding and exchanges of culture, Nalarian spread to the island. After some time the language gained a distinctly Colossian sound; this dialect has since become regarded as a distinct language, and became the mother tongue of Nafeera, commonly heard in Setsdzia and Bel-Camdissi's major port cities. To most Colossians, the two languages are simply referred to as Nalarian, but for those who speak either natively, its Colossian and Agonossian versions are referred to as Kholarian and Nalarian respectively.

K O G A N

T H E Kogan language is spoken by the Kilgarrens of the Shattered Isles. Camdissian can be considered a sister language, given that the two share an almost identical grammatical structure, and often times their modern words descend from the same basic root. Pronunciation is basic and fairly intuitive, but as the series progresses, any complex words or basic ones for the sake of clarity will be added to this section. 

Social class can affect the pronunciation of some words in Setsdzian. The well-bred and educated residents of Setsdzia and Bokanthjia retain the short i in Dassi, for example, however differentiating accents in the working class often bring it closer to the pronunciation DASS-ee, despite it lacking a j marker to denote this.

​S E T S D Z I A N  is  spoken largely by those of Dassi ethnicity, in Setsdzia and Bokanthjia. It is a bastardised variant of its archaic parent, Kaletsdzian. Kaletsdzian is still spoken as a first language among monarchy and the Alekxantrjia Institute. Both languages are easily identifiable by their use of the letter J as an accent or diacritic. The coupling of the j marker with i, for example, often turns the i sound from a short one (as in ink) to a long one, (as in unique).

Here is a crash course in language and pronunciation, to help along those staring vacantly and helplessly at every other Setsdzian language word. In terms of Setsdzian, the only thing you really need to get your head around is how those pesky j's get themselves involved. When all is said and done though, invent your own rules with these languages-- I certainly did.

Many islands making up The Shattered Isles bear Setsdzian names, owing to Northern Shield colonisation. Historically, Bokanthjia was considered part of The Shattered Isles, and was largely unpopulated. Due to its insignificance in comparison with many of the more densely populated isles, it was referred to simply as Marx Suud, or Eastern Marx, after the Isle of Marx.
